Hello, everyone! Elena Robson here.
I am flattered that so many of you have expressed interest in coming to see my musical coming up this week, Bright Star. It will be showing this Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 2pm, and Saturday at 8pm. I play Lucy, a spunky magazine editor at the Asheville Southern Journal (who has a bit of a drinking problem… please bear in mind if you’re thinking about bringing kids). A touching show with excellent music, it actually places a refreshing emphasis on the importance of parents’ relationships with their children, and the blessing that those children can be — not a super common theme on college campuses.
If you do decide to come, you can buy tickets online (or at the door, but I suggest online) here: https://rochester.universitytickets.com/w/default.aspx?fbclid=IwAR3LagKUhy1F_ICZ4Ag94sadc07O5JzAneC4ru62ZqcCxMBiQuTEtgfVRG8
The show is in the May Room on the 4th floor of Wilson Commons at U of R. It’s might be a little tricky to get to from parking if you aren’t familiar with the campus, but below is a link to a campus map and if you ask anybody here they can tell you where to go. Parking is free on the weekends in all lots and street parking. I would recommend parking on Library Rd. next to the sports fields, as that is probably the closest to the May Room, or the Library Lot, which is also easiest to get to via Library Rd. (on the left, right across from the back of the library — just take a left onto Intercampus Dr. and another left into the lot). Here’s a link to an interactive map: https://www.rochester.edu/maps/
I know that all seems rather complicated, but I am so pleased that some of you are planning to come! I think you’ll like it, and if nothing else, I might make you laugh a little.
Thanks for reading!
